A teenage motorist has been arrested after two pedestrians were struck by a car and seriously injured in County Donegal in the early hours of Monday morning.
It happened at Lower Main Street in Letterkenny at around 03:00 GMT.
Gardaí (Irish police) arrested the driver of the car, who is in his late teens, at the scene and he remains in custody.
They said the incident had been referred to the Garda Ombudsman due to an “earlier interaction” between them and the driver of the car.
The two male pedestrians have been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, where they are being treated for serious injuries.
The scene is currently being examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly anyone who was in the area between Dry Arch roundabout and Oldtown Road between 02:30 and 03:30.
They also want road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make the footage available to Gardaí.
