Second black smoke signal as Conclave continues

Black smoke has risen from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel for the second time, meaning cardinals in the conclave have not yet decided on a successor to Pope Francis.

The next vote will take place at approximately 17:30 (16:30 BST) on Thursday. If white smoke emerges, it means a new pope has been chosen.

BBC presenter Maryam Moshiri described the scene from her viewpoint in St Peter’s Square.
