A young boy has died after he was struck by a car in County Westmeath.
The collision happened in Farranshock Estate, Mullingar, at about 18:30 local time on Monday.
The boy was treated at the scene before being taken by ambulance to Mullingar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged, gardaí (Irish police) have said.
